Protein Powders

If you are trying to lose fat, you will most likely want a low carb, low calorie protein. The extra protein will help you keep your current muscle mass. If you are trying to gain muscle, you would want a high protein, high calorie powder that is relatively low in sugar and fat. If you are simply trying to find a quick meal replacement, a protein powder with medium carbs and medium calories would most likely be for you.

The three most popular types of protein are whey, egg, and soy.  Most people who are trying to build or maintain muscle will choose whey.

Here are a few types of proteing powders with low calories (all 55 calories or less per serving)

Kettlebells

It’s been only a few weeks since I discovered the kettlebell.  What in the world is that, you may ask?!

Kettlebell

A kettlebell is a cast iron ball with a handle on it. They have been used in Russia for centuries by their Olympic athletes and Military. Today kettlebells are used by all types of people with a variety of goals. For example, athletes, powerlifters, martial artists, law enforcement, military, dancers and regular men and women who just want to be in the best shape of their lives.

What can Kettlebells do for me?

Properly designed kettlebell workouts can:

  • Increase your strength
  • Decrease your body fat
  • Shape your body
  • Decrease stress
  • Increase your energy level
  • Increase your flexibility
  • Increase your endurance

I puchased my Gofit kettlebells from Target.  They have 3 different weights available:

15lb  $39.99           20lb $49.99              25lb $59.99

I started off with the 15lb kettlebell, it smoked me after 20 minutes of swings! After 2 weeks at 15lbs, I upgraded to the 20lb kettlebell.  I personally would suggest you start off with a 20lb kettlebell.  When you do swings, you are to start off with 1 minute of swings and rest for 1 minute and continue on for 20 minutes.  This may not sound like much of a work out, but it will kick your butt!!  It’s great.  Check out how to do swings below…

For more information on kettlebells, click on the link below.  It is an oh-so INSPIRING  article on how Tracy Reifkind lost over 100lbs in 1 year by using the kettlebell:

The First Post for ‘The Inspired Mommy’

Well, this is the first post and it is a little overwhelming!  So, here goes….

I am a stay-at-home mom of 3 beautiful boys (ages 11 months, 4 and 7).  As you can imagine life is great as well as busy, busy, busy.  Did I mention that life here is busy? ha! ha!

I have been a bf’ing (breastfeeding) mom  for 11 months now and I must say, I am NOT one of the blessed ones that “the weight pours off of while bf’ing”.  My body LOVES the extra weight while I am bf’ing.  It is a mega fight for me to lose the extra baby weight.

I recently discovered kettlebells.  They are awesome!  I will have some future posts regarding this very soon, so some of you inspired mommies out there can work out using them.  Let me just say… you can burn mega calories with the swing, in just 20 minutes a day, 3 times a week, which is pretty amazing!

I will be posting my food journal and workouts on a daily basis.

Also check out the Recipes Tab up top.  I will be posting some healthy recipes too!

Stay inspired!!
